De-Aging on-screen has become the new trend when it comes to movies right now. After witnessing a digitally young Robert De Niro in the trailer of Martin Scorcese’s ‘The Irishman’, now it is the upcoming film ‘Gemini Man’ in which fans will be treated with a digitally young Will Smith.
As per the reports, the script of Gemini Man needed Smith to be himself in one frame and a much young version of himself in the other frame. In an interview at the red carpet screening of the film, Smith jokingly said, “I would go back to [1999’s] ‘Wild Wild West,’ and I would say, ‘a–hole why didn’t you do ‘The Matrix’?”
“The first shot I saw was [when] the older character (Henry) flips [his younger clone] — it’s always weird — old Will flips young Will,” he stated to Variety. “There is a shot where the flashlight comes up onto his face. It is one of the best digital shots of the movie.”
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer in an interaction with Variety told that Lee was initially doubtful he could catch up with the movie’s digital ambition.
For the unversed, Gemini Man is an American action thriller film directed by Ang Lee and it stars Will Smith in the lead role.
