On Thursday Taylor Swift tweeted and revealed that she is being asked to a damning set of conditions that she is asked to meet if she wants to play a medley of her old hits at the American Music Awards, where she will be presented with the artist of the decade award.
The pop star says Big Machine Label owner Scott Borchetta and music tycoon Scooter Braun, who purchased her extensive back catalogue in June are restricting her to perform her medley of old songs on television as “they claim that would be re-recording my music before I’m allowed to next year.”
Swift says they have denied her team’s request to use her old songs in performance for a forthcoming Netflix documentary “even though there is no mention of wither of them or Big Machine Records in the film” she writes in her tweet.

They will allow her to use her songs only if she agrees to record copycat versions of her songs next year and if she and her team stops talking about him and Scooter Braun.
Further, her message continued saying ” Basically be a good little girl and shut up. Or you’ll be punished. This is WRONG. Neither of these men had a hand in the writing of those songs. They did nothing to create the relationship I had with my fans.”
So Swift is now planning to go public about this issue and asking her fans to support her by telling Scott and Scooter how they feel about it. Her tweet ignited social media with the hashtags ” IStandwithTaylor” and “FreeTaylor” trending worldwide on twitter.
In late June, Swift publically denounced Braun after he paid $300 million to acquire Swift’s former record label. The 29-year-old pop star called this deal her ” worst-case scenario” accusing Braun of subjecting her to “incessant, manipulating bullying” for years and “controlling women who didn’t want to be associated” with him.
With the year coming close, ” I just want to be able to perform MY music”, Swift wrote Thursday. ” That’s it. I’ve tried to work this out privately through my team but have not been able to resolve anything”.
Swift’s seventh studio album “Lover” was released under her new label, Universal Music Group. Under her new contract, the singer owns master recordings for all original music.
