2019 has been a fantastic year for movies. From Martin Scorsese to Quentin Tarantino, every great director had something to offer this year. Furthermore, 2019 also gave us some of the most exceptional acting performances. Actors like Jaoquin Pheonix, Florence Pugh, and Brad Pitt had a lot to offer.

This American superhero movie managed to break Avatar’s record of the highest-grossing film of all time as it made 2.796 billion dollars taking Avatar’s position as number one. In 2009, Avatar grossed 2.79 billion dollars worldwide. 

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood:

You’d be living under a rock if you haven’t heard of this movie yet. Bagging a total of ten Oscar nominations, this movie is a must-watch. Set in the 1960s starring Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Margot Robbie, the film is beyond amazing. The final moments of Hollywood’s golden age are depicted in the movie by Quentin Tarantino.

A Netflix original movie starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino Joe Pesci. If Goodfellas is one of your favourites, this movie is for you. Martin Scorsese is the director of the film. Furthermore, it earned a total of ten BAFTA and Oscar nominations this year. 

Joker:

Released at the beginning of October, Joker was probably the most controversial film of 2019. Directed by Todd Philips, the movie follows the backstory of Arthur Fleck and, consequently, what made him Joker, the darkest villain of all time. Joker’s success wasn’t confined to the box office (obviously) as it led the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), earning a total of eleven nominations.

Marriage Story bagged many nominations this year, including the golden globes and Oscar. Adam Driver plays a stage director, and Scarlett Johansson plays his wife, who’s an actor by profession. The story follows their struggle through an enervating, gruelling divorce that helps them to reach their creative and personal extremes.
