“A Witcher is not known to love. He is devoid of any emotion, whether it is sadness, happiness or love.” We heard these throughout the entirety of Season One and yet when we came back to Geralt of Rivia, we kept learning how wrong it all was. His emotions always on a precipice, it was nice to see how even the coldest of hearts had it within to feel emotion.
Season One didn’t just see Geralt’s expressions of love though. There was a litany of emotions throughout and we’re here to sort through them all. We present to you, All the ships we shipped in The Witcher, and the ones we did not.
Geralt and Renfri
“To the first go the spoils”. The first couple to feature on the show was sorceress turned epic swordfighter Renfri and the Butcher of Blaviken, Geralt. He hadn’t gained that name yet, but he was soon too. It all went down when Renfri went after magician Stregobor to free herself off of his evil. She ends up forcing Geralt’s hand and ends up dying by his arms, in his arms.
Yennefer and Istredd
The first to love her even in her crippled state, Istredd is attracted to the power Yennefer unknowingly emits and she, to his determination. She finds herself beautiful in his eyes and falls head over heels for his words and actions. However, Istredd ends up betraying Yennefer in the end, and Yennefer then transforms into the utter beauty she is. Eat your heart out, Istredd.
Geralt and Yennefer
The most steamy and probably the most romantic relationship of the entire series, Geralt and Yennefer are both equally matched in wits and strength. They at first encounter each other and are not so pleasant, but soon seem to become attracted to each other. Their collisions with each other throughout the quests they go on making them fall in love. The beautiful relationship, however, comes to a halt when Yennefer comes to know of Geralt’s destiny and the child of surprise.
