Based on a book of the same name, the show stars Henry Cavill (obviously) as Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter. With dreamy eyes and gigantic arms, he’s struggling to find his place in a wicked world. Freya Allan as Cintran princess Ciri as well as Anya Chalotra as sorceress Yennefer are the other two main characters.

Set in an entirely different fantasy world known as the Continent, season one follows the story of these three characters and how their destiny is connected to each other.

Consisting of a total of eight episodes, the show is a mix of fancy elements from the Renaissance and the Middle Age. Furthermore, season one got its release on the 20th of December 2020 on Netflix.

Much before season one even released, The Witcher was already renewed for season two. So, along with the lead cast, Robert Downey Jr led Dolittle actress Carmel Laniado is all set to join the second season in a supporting role.

So, we’ll see the British actress in a supporting role for at least a minimum of three episodes. She’s going to play the role of Violet. Violet is described as “a young girl whose playful and whimsical demeanour is a front for a smarter and more sadistic character.”

Season two’s shooting will last for about 125 days as confirmed by the show creator, Lauren Hissrich. Furthermore, three new directors will also join season two. These include Lost in space’s Stephen Surjik; Doctor Who’s Edward Bazalgette and The Last Kingdom’s Sarah O’Gorman.

Season one of The Witcher is currently streaming on Netflix!
