Detective Pikachu 2 Release Date, Cast, Plot, Trailer And What A Fan Can Expect?

2019’s urban fantasy mystery film, Detective Pikachu became the second-highest-grossing video game film adaptation of all time by grossing over 433 million dollars. Directed and written by Rob Letterman the film is based on the Pokémon franchise. It also serves as a loose adaptation of the 2016 video game of the same name.

So, Detective Pikachu became a massive hit thanks to its character arcs and narrative twists with just enough raw emotion and personal stakes to make the significant special effects moments matter beyond spectacle. Consequently, a sequel is all is its way!

Release Date Of Detective Pikachu 2

Unfortunately, no official release date has been announced for Detective Pikachu 2. However as of September 2019, its in the early stages of development.

The Pokémon Company granted Legendary entertainment permission for all of the characters used in Detective Pikachu. But, it wasn’t always so keen on the studio fielding a live-action Pokémon universe. However, as the production and release of the movie progressed, the company eventually approved.

Rumours also hint towards Legendary developing a spin-off focused on Mewtwo. But as far as the second instalment is concerned, it’s most likely to hit the theatres in late 2021 or early 2022.

Cast Details

As of now, it’s unclear whether any of the first film’s cast will return for Detective Pikachu 2. The sequel could diminish its box office returns without the involvement of Ryan Reynolds. So its almost sure that he’ll be back only not voicing Detective Pikachu, but playing Tim’s father, Harry Goodman.

Furthermore, Justice Smith will be back as Tim Goodman. Kathryn Newton as Lucy Stevens, a journalist who helps out on the case, and Ken Watanabe as Harry Goodman’s friend Detective Yoshida could also return for the sequel.

Plot And Trailer

Sadly, no official trailer has been released yet. The storyline is also unclear at this moment. One thing’s for certain though that it’ll be very different from the first movie. Since Harry’s all well, the sequel could see Tim and Harry solve crimes together.

So, there’s a chance that Pikachu and the other Pokemon remain voiceless. This, however, is going to rob the sequel of what makes the first movie such a delight to watch. It could also be a spin-off set in the broader world of Ryme City. Nothing’s for certain as of yet.
