The most awaited fan favourite anime, The Rising of the Shield Hero renewed for two more seasons! The anime rather left us at a seemingly satisfying ending with the hoisting of the shield hero’s flag. The official release date has not confirmed yet. But, it seems the production company, Kinema Citrus, is working hard for its release.
Voice Actors:
The lead cast is most likely to return, with Billy Kametz as Naofumi, Erica Mendez and Brianna Knickerbocker as Rapthalia and Filo. The seasoned veteran Sarah Bridcutt will return as Myne.
The story until now:
Four Cardinal heroes are summoned into the kingdom of Melromarc to fend of the Waves of Catastrophe. The four heroes have respectively bestowed a sword, spear, bow, and shield to vanquish these Waves. The story revolves around the protagonist Naofumi Iwatani, an otaku, who becomes cursed with the fate of being the “Shield Hero.” Armed with only a measly shield, Naofumi is belittled and ridiculed by his fellow heroes and the kingdom’s people. After being falsely accused by Malty, he sets on a journey to strengthen himself and his reputation. Raphthalia and Filo join his party and story explores Naofumi and his party’s growth along the way.
Fan expectations:
The 25-episodes season 1 ended with Naofumi getting all the rights to govern Seyaette’s Demi-Human region. The fans can surely expect a new beginning to the shield hero’s adventure. Naofumi ends the season 1 saying “The Shield Hero’s story begins anew”. Which allows us to stay excited for the upcoming seasons. The anime series has covered only 5 volumes of the light novel series. It is expected to round up the anime with 2 more seasons as 20 volumes of the light novel is already written. We can expect new allies, foes and kingdoms in the upcoming seasons. Season 2 and season 3 have high expectations as the light novel shows promise. The anime might take a few years for animation but its worth the wait.
