Inclined towards fantasy drama? American Gods are perfect for you. This television series is based on Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name. It’s developed by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green for the premium cable network Starz. The sequel, American Gods – season 3 is scheduled to premiere on Starz in 2020, and here’s everything you need to know about it.
Release Date:
Viewers first witnessed this season way back in April 2017, which was followed by season 2 in March 2019. With all the issues related to the delay in release finally sorted, we can expect season 3 to be out soon. We’d expect it to land closer to summer than spring, with tentative release dates in June. July or later.
But it looks like the show is pretty complicated to be put together, hence it can shift the deadline way out of the slot.
Cast:
The cast is expected to be consistent, and most of the main cast are expected to return – Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon, Ian McShane as Mr Wednesday, Emily Browning as Laura Moon, Crispin Glover as Mr World and Bruce Langley as the Technical Boy. We will also witness a new entry this time, musician Marilyn Manson as a “Nordic death metal frontman” named Johan Wengren. He is expected to appear in four episodes this season.
More recently, Neil also revealed that veteran actress Blythe Danner will appear as “Demeter”, the Greek goddess of the harvest with an “unresolved romantic history”.
Trailer:
The official trailer has not been out yet, but since we expect season 3 to release this year, a glimpse of the show may be out anytime soon.
Plot:
The series is based on the concept of Americans bringing their gods from Africa trickster gods to Slavic deities to Ancient Egyptian gods of the afterlife. The old gods have been forgotten and relegated tot he fringes of the society. However, as the new gods rise, the old gods learn to retaliate, with ex-con Shadow moon thrust into the battlefield by his enigmatic boss Mr Wednesday.
