Sherlock is a British crime drama based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories. All four seasons have been a blast on Netflix and now the great news has been out for the 5th season.
Release Date and trailer
The sources have not yet confirmed any such news about the trailer the release date. An assumption could be made for the arrival of the much-awaited British drama. Which is expected to be around in 2022 or 2023. Fans have to wait a bit longer as the cast is busy with there current ongoing project.
Some of the cast which had confirmed to return without any official confirmation is Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes, Martin Freeman as Doctor Watson and Mark Gatiss as Mycroft Holmes. Sian Brooke may also appear in next season, playing the role of Sheen’s sister, Eurus Holmes. Of course, new characters will also be recruited. A prominent face may appear as the new villain. Fans will be visually baffled to see the plot twist again.
Last season summed up with a lot of mess as it had cases with mysteries behind and left uncovered. So hopefully, the new season will expose them and solve the puzzles of the evidence. There are also possibilities, for the new season to have some references for cases and characters from the book. The new season will surely have Holmes and Watson getting into trouble while solving the cases.
What can be seen in season 5?
As the plot is unclear till now, series producer Steven Moffat in a post on Facebook shared his thoughts and how he beholds the series. He fractions the first four series as “Chapter One”. In which, “Dr Watson is now Doyle’s brave widower and Sherlock Holmes has become the wise and humane version of the main run of the stories (we’ve focused, so far, on the cold Holmes of the early days.)”
He moves on to snapshot “Chapter Two” as “our boys consciously living the myth and battling wrong-doers”.
Benedict Cumberbatch told Vogue: “I’d love to play him as an old man.”
This suggests a new version of Sherlock similar to that attempted in the 2015 film Mr Holmes, starring Ian McKellen as the detective in his old age.
