Plot

Last season summed up with a lot of mess as it had cases with mysteries behind and left uncovered. So hopefully, the new season will expose them and solve the puzzles of the evidence. There are also possibilities, for the new season to have some references for cases and characters from the book. The new season will surely have Holmes and Watson getting into trouble while solving the cases.

What can be seen in season 5?

As the plot is unclear till now, series producer Steven Moffat in a post on Facebook shared his thoughts and how he beholds the series. He fractions the first four series as “Chapter One”. In which, “Dr Watson is now Doyle’s brave widower and Sherlock Holmes has become the wise and humane version of the main run of the stories (we’ve focused, so far, on the cold Holmes of the early days.)”

He moves on to snapshot “Chapter Two” as “our boys consciously living the myth and battling wrong-doers”.

Benedict Cumberbatch told Vogue: “I’d love to play him as an old man.”

This suggests a new version of Sherlock similar to that attempted in the 2015 film Mr Holmes, starring Ian McKellen as the detective in his old age.
