The Blacklist premiered in 2013 and is approaching its landmark 150th episode, which will air in April 2020. The show is tied as the No. 1 Friday drama in the 18-49 demographic, according to the network. It averages 6.6 million viewers overall in “live plus seven day” ratings.
“Congratulations to our incredible cast, producers and crew, all of whom continue to reach excellence week in and week out,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, Co-Presidents of Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment, in a statement. “We couldn’t be more excited to continue Red and Liz’s story into season eight.”
Release Date:
Season six aside (which aired in January), The Blacklist has always come back in either September (four times) or October (twice). If we were gamblers, we’d bet the house on season eight airing in late September 2020.
Cast Details:
Sony Pictures Television made new deals with the show’s leading stars James Spader and Megan Boone.
Spader plays the show’s main protagonist, Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington and Boone star as his daughter Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen.
Diego Klattenhoff will return as Donald Ressler, a special agent with the FBI who also became the Acting Assistant Director of the FBI Counterterrorism Division.
Harry Lennix will also be back as Harold Cooper: The Assistant Director of the FBI Counterterrorism Division.
Returning for The Blacklist season eight is Amir Arison as the cyber expert, Aram Mojtabai, Hisham Tawfiq as Red’s bodyguard Dembe Zuma and Laura Sohn as Alina Park.
Plot:
We’ll also get more information about Red’s true identity – unless season seven gives us the final answer. Season six teased us significantly before apparently revealing it. But there’s still plenty of mystery and missing pieces of the puzzle, the solutions to which will be drip-fed to fans until the final season, we’re sure.
Trailer And Upcoming Details:
We’d say early September 2020. As soon as it arrives, we’ll drop it straight into this feature. So keep us bookmarked for all the latest Blacklist news, rumours and scoops.
The current series is on a midseason break and is expected to conclude in May 2020.
Chris Parnell, Co-President, Sony Pictures Television said: “The Blacklist continues to tell exciting and imaginative stories.
“It’s due to the brilliant cast, crew and our writing staff. Led by Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath, who commit to unparalleled creativity. Wait until you see what’s in store for season eight. Stay connected for more updates.
