Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings is an upcoming American superhero film. The 26th film in the MCU( Marvel Cinematic Universe) is based on the character Shang-Chi. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing it, with a screenplay by David Callaham. Marvel Studios is producing it, and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures is distributing it.
It is supposed to hit the theatres in the States on May 7th, 2021. The filming began back in February 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic has put the production on hold. It will star Simu Liu as Shang-Chi along with Tony Leung.
Plot: What is Shang-Chi about?
The film revolves around Shan-Chi, the master of unarmed combat. He is the son of supervillain Fu Manchu, but he opposes his father’s ways. He is a lone-wolf character and has earned the nickname ‘Master of Kung Fu.’
Who are the new villains in Shang-Chi?
The Ten Rings refer to the international terrorist group that kidnapped Tony Stark in the first Iron Man movie. Stark built his first Iron man suit while being held captive. The main antagonist of the film is The Mandarin, Iron man’s archenemy. He is an imposter and is in charge of the Ten Rings criminal organization. In addition to him, past members include Jackson Norriss, the deceased Raza, and cybercriminal Cordo Gaines.
Is Shang-Chi based on Bruce Lee?
A few days ago, Rapper Ice Cube tweeted, ” Marvel is cool. But give me Bruce Lee. Real-life Superhero.” To this, Simu Liu tweeted back, “What if I told you there was a character loosely based on him in the comic books???” This has led to speculations regarding the possibility that Shang-Chi’s character is based on Bruce Lee. But nothing has been confirmed yet. We will have to wait for the movie to release to see if this is true.
