After a prolonged wait, The Last Kingdom recently landed on Netflix for the fourth season that saw many new epic battles and hearts wrenching character deaths in the war between the Saxons and the Danes.
Alexander Dreymon continued with his role as Uhtred of Bebbanburg, who had to be a responsible and strong father and save his kingdom of Wessex from total destruction.
The show continues to possess a zealous fanbase who are waiting eagerly for the fifth edition of the famous screen adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories.
Season 5
We’re still awaiting word on whether or not The Last Kingdom has been revived for a fifth season on Netflix, but we do know that the streaming service is keen to continue running the show that spent the majority of its screen time in the UK’s top 10 list.
Trailer
Since there hasn’t been any official news, it’s hard to expect the trailer to come out any time soon.
Latest Cast
Alexander Dreymon, as Uhtred of Bebbanburg, is probably the only confirmed cast member for the show as we cannot the series without him, while Emily Cox will also return as his nemesis Brida. Mark Rowley, Ewan Mitchell, and Arnas Fedaravičius are also loved by the fans and should return to the screens. Hasten somehow managed to stay alive, and Sigtryggr has become the partner of Uhtred’s daughter.
Additional Information
The show should continue with its format of ten episodes each season. What makes the show so fascinating is that it is based on a book as well as ancient British History. Where Game of Thrones and Vikings fell short, The Last Kingdom has succeeded. There were times in those shows where we would’ve loved to see some reality or more creativity, but The Last Kingdom has enough content to create an extraordinary piece of work.
