Overlord is a Japanese anime series, directed by Naoyuki Itō. It is based on a light novel by Kugane Maruyama. The series made its debut in 2015. The series is placed in a century where an advanced gaming interface has been developed. The most famous among all other games were YGGDRASIL. However, after a limit of 12 years, the game’s server prepares to shut down. But one of its characters remains stuck within it. The novel inspired creators to spurn an anime series out of it. With the show planning for its fourth season, it is fair to say that it has been a success.
The production team has kept all the details bleak. Mostly the fourth season was expected this year. But due to current pandemic situations, the production is halted like for the other shows.
The series will look to move ahead with its original cast. Most utmost of the cast from Season 3 will be renewing for the upcoming season. Members of the cast will include Satoshi Hino and Yumi Hara. Beside them, Manami Numakura, Masayuki Katou, and Sumire Uesaka will also return.
Season four is expected to follow the novel only, but besides that, this season is very important for Aniz (lead) whose authority is under threat.
“Ainz’s supposed death is foreshadowed in Overlord Volume 11’s epilogue where LupusreginaBeta told Enri Emmott that her master was defeated and killed in battle with Jaldabaoth.”
The betrayal of Caspond(who is the Doppelganger), the battle with Jaldabaoth, Ainz’ death. All of it is staged. The Doppel is there to see who will quickly turn on Ainz when given an opportunity as well as hold a position of power over the people. Only to slowly convert them into loyal subjects, similar to how Momon is used. The battle with Jaldabaoth is being used in a similar manner in order to show that Ainz isn’t like other undead that hates all breathing things. His death will be used to find his “rivals” or those lurking in the shadows that have been waiting to strikeout. It can and will also be used to show the power he holds as if to say, “He rules over death and therefore can not be killed/die.”
