Over the years, Netflix has explored the sci-fi genre well. It brought shows like Altered Carbon, Dark, Lost in Space, and so on. Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, Stranger Things debuted on Netflix in 2016. Since then, it has been one of the most popular shows on Netflix.
Set in the 1980s, a group of teenagers in Indiana witness several supernatural forces followed by secret government exploits. The show revolves around a woman who launches an investigation following the disappearance of her 12-year-old son. To find out the reasons, these young friends set out on a quest. However, they unravel a series of mysteries that are beyond extraordinary. These include government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl.
Release Date?
The announcement of the fourth season came in the form of a short teaser. If you’d recall, there was a gap of 20 months between seasons 1 and 2. However, the showrunners have confirmed that it won’t be the case henceforth. Season 3 premiered in July 2019. As Netflix tends to operate in yearly cycles, Season 4 is expected to release sometime July 2020. However, Netflix has halted every major production due to the ongoing pandemic. As a result, the show can be pushed ahead to the end of 2020 or at the start of 2021.
What To Expect From Season 4?
The teaser trailer ended with a short tagline that said, “Were not in Hawkins anymore.” This means season 4 is likely to explore the extended geography of the show. After all, the Byers family finally moved out of Indiana at the season 3. During season 3, Jim Hooper found himself dangerously close to the machine. This is the machine the Soviet scientists constructed to open the gate to the Upside Down. Joyce destroys the device, which presumably kills Hooper.
The major shock came when Eleven lost all her powers in the Third Season. So it will be interesting to see how the gang survives without them. There’s a chance she might get them back, but only season 4 can clarify all doubts. However, the trailer took us to Russia, where two prison guards are talking about a locked up American.
So will this American be Jim Hopper?
Only season 4 can tell.
