Marvel Studios officially announced the first-ever Asian Origin Superhero movie and it has thoroughly excited the fans. The film will be called ‘Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings’.
The film’s director Destin Daniel Cretton revealed the first glimpse of the cast members after uploading a picture on his social media accounts.
When is it Releasing?
The crew had already started with the production in February in Sydney before it was stopped because of the COVID-19 lockdowns. There’s no official date on when filming will resume again. Marvel initially set the release date of February 12, 2021, but it has now been postponed to May 7, 2021.
Who All Can We Expect to See?
Simi Liu will play the main character, Shang-Chi while Awkwafina has also been signed, but her role is not yet known or been revealed yet. The Mandarin will be performed by Tony Leung, the villain from the comic books.
The Asian community is genuinely excited about getting primary representation in the MCU. The popularity of movies like ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ in which Awkwafina also played a significant role allowed the Asian actors to rise to stardom and Liu will be the first Asian actor to take the leading part of a Marvel superhero movie. We all wanted MCU to be more diverse and not just a full endorsement of America in the world.
Do We Know Anything About the Plot?
The movie will be about the martial arts, with the plot revolving around a martial arts tournament hosted by The Mandarin.
As the comics suggest, the tournament’s champion may be rewarded with the mythical Ten Rings. All we can do is speculate until Marvel releases an official trailer, till then we will have to patiently wait.
Who will be the villain?
As it’s not confirmed, we always go to the comics to find out, and this time we found out that Mandarin will be the villain of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He is the owner of the ten rings of power.
