Mark Zuckerberg And Mukesh Ambani Discuss WhatsApp-Jio Prospects In India: Read Full Transcript

Marking the beginning of Fuel For India 2020, RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg discuss the future prospects of a Facebook-Jio platforms investment in the country.

On day 1 of this grand event, an initiative to allow discussions on how its services are used by influencers, creators, small and large-scale entrepreneurs to market their business in the country, the discussion was kick started by conversations between Ambani and Zuckerberg. The former claimed, “We are looking forward to your involvement in India… I hope the rest of the world learns from Indian policy.” Earlier this year, in April, Facebook had announced an investment of 5.7 billion dollars USD, equivalent to Rs. 43,574 crore INR, in Jio platforms.

On being enquired about how India is dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and what role RIL had played to aid the people during these tough times, Ambani said, 800 million Indians have received free food until December, 200 million Indians received direct bank transfers of Rs 1,500 to help underprivileged see through the pandemic. He also alludes to the massive technological improvements in the country to have helped cope with the pandemic.

Ambani further hopes, that the recent Jio-Facebook partnership will help to create more equal wealth opportunities in the country.

Ambani has also claimed that India will see massive leaps in the country’s digital transformation in the coming decades.

Moreover, The RIL chairman has assured that India will have created its very own COVID-19 vaccine by the first half of the coming year.
