In 2019, for the first time, Twin Engine announced that they will be producing the anime version of the manga of the same name, animated by Wit Studio. The manga on which the anime was based, was also a hit among the manga readers. The original manga released in 2005, in the weekly Shonen Magazine. The first season garnered worldwide popularity. Directed by Shuhei Yabuta the anime has an 8.8 rating on IMDB the series boasts of the layered storyline which connects with the viewers from the first episode. The first season aired 24 episodes. Plot & Storyline Till Season 1:
Thorfinn is the main protagonist of the anime. Some say it is loosely based on the life on explorer Thorfinn Karlsefni. When Thorfinn was a child he was a cheerful and joyful child. His father Thors and mother Helga lived a fruitful and eventful life in Iceland. Hearing about the stories of faraway lands, Thorfinn develops a fascination towards Vinland. Now, his only dream is to make a voyage to Vinland. But he is unaware that grave misfortunes are yet to arrive.
Floki, one of his former companions of war, betrays him. Floki had assigned Askeladd to execute Thors. Now, Thorfinn undergoes a mental change and his only dream becomes to avenge the death of his father by killing Askeladd. But for it he has to get closer to Askeladd first. Hence, Thorfinn joins the army of Askeladd, but deep inside he is always looking for an opportunity to kill Askeladd. As the story progresses more and more characters are introduced, adding mystery to the plot.
At the end we see Askeladd getting killed by Canute with mischief in front of the eyes of Thorfinn. Thorfinn is shocked and taken back by this view in front of him. All his struggle, determination, anger which he has been storing for more than a decade, just for a chance to kill the murderer of his father. Canute takes away this opportunity from Thorfinn. Askeladd ends his life in Thorfinnn’s arms, giving him a lesson till his last breath. Askeladd
goes on telling that all his life he has been assassinating people, butchering women, children and even full family at a time. But he was never a complete soldier. A soldier need not to have a heart full of bitterness. Though he has a job to kill people who are his opponent. Askeladd’s last words to Thorfinn were “Be a True Warrior.”
With this Thorfinn ends up on a farm as a slave working for the Ketil. But as destiny would want King Canute launches an attack on Ketil’s farm where Thorfinn is a slave. King Canute wins the battle and takes over the farmland. This leads Thorfinn and his mates to freedom.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Details:
Well as we know that the anime version is based on the original manga of the same name. The first season had in total of 24 episodes. This covered 54 chapters of the total manga. All in all, there are 164 chapters left. So, there is a lot of material left to be presented on the celluloid. But till now, no confirmation has been provided about the renewal of the series.

Let’s hope for the best. If owing to the popularity of the show. Every producer will like to renew a show of this calibre. The first season premiered from July to December 2019. If rumours and speculations are to be considered. An Early or mid-2021 release is currently the talk of the town. Vinland Saga Season 2 is popular to such an extent that IGN listed Vinland Saga Season 1 in the best anime of 2010s decade.
