Pat Barry, The Legendary Broadcaster Dies From COVID-19 At 69

Pat Barry who was a Cincinnati DJ and weather anchor for WLWT and WXIX passed away from COVID-19 on Saturday. He was 69 at the time. He worked in various places of TV and radio stations area for forty years.

Pat Barry started working at the age of 16 in broadcasting. It was at WIZE-AM radio in Springfield in the year 1968. At that time, he was helping out a DJ at WIZE. In an interview, he said he was supposed to be a band director and was to go to Ohio State University. But he somehow got into radio and worked all over Ohio, Indiana, and also in Florida. In 1974, he arrived at Cincinnati to work at WSAI-AM but left in 1978 to work in Hamilton at WOKV. Pat Barry was also a famous DJ for Q-102 in 1976.

After that, he switched his profession to weather broadcaster at WLWT News 5. He used to be a host for a daytime talk show for WLW live. He also worked at WKEF/WRGT in Dayton and WXIX.

WXIX-TV is also known as Fox 19 employed Pat Barry in 1995. He was the first weather host for ’19 in the Morning’ news which was established in 1996. In 1999, he left Fox 19 but he came occasionally to work as a weekend weather anchor. He worked like that for 15 years. Pat Barry also worked in WLW-AM, WMOJ-FM, and WDJO-AM. It was in 2014 when he started working in WDJO but left in 2018. After leaving WDJO, he worked in WNKN-FM(105.9) and WNKR-FM(106.7). The format is classic country. He has hosted in many varieties such as rock, pop, weather forecast, and so on.

Only the formal arrangements for the funeral will be done for Pat Barry because of the COVID-19 protocols. They further stated donations will be done to the Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund and the Society of St.Vincent de Paul in honor of him.
