“Squid Game” Receives Three Awards at the 28th SAG Awards

The 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) was held on February 27 local time in Santa Monica, California. Lee Jung Jae and Jung Ho Yeon they each earned a win for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series in both the male and female divisions, making them the first Korean actors to win these awards in the drama series category. They are also the first actors of Asian nationality to do so. There was another prize for the stunt team that participated in the Kdrama.

Lee Jung Jae gave in his speech: “Oh my God, thank you so much! This that has happened to me is really huge,” commented Lee Jung Jae as he accepted the award from him on stage. “Well, I wrote a lot, but I don’t think I’ll be able to read it all.” He continued, “Don’t say words, thank you so much for the SAG-AFTRA Awards and thank you to the worldwide audience for all your love for Squid Game. And thanks to the Squid Game team.”

Jung Ho Yeon shared, “First of all, thank you very much. I have seen many of the actors in the audience through the TV screen, dreaming of becoming an actress one day as I watched them all. Thank you for making me dream and opening the door for me. I love you my team Squid Game‘!” What’s more, “Squid Game” also won Best Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series, beating out other nominees “Cobra Kai,” “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” “Loki” and “Mare of Easttown” for a total three wins out of his four total nominations.
