“The King of Pigs» is a thriller that follows people who recall their experiences as victims of violence due to mysterious serial murders that begin when they receive a message from a friend from 20 years ago. Through these characters with tragic destinies, the drama touches on the origin of school violence and the violence that permeates modern society. The drama is based on the animated film of the same name by director Yeon Sangho which has already been recognized for its cinematographic quality at various film festivals.
Kim Dong-wook He will be playing the role of Hwang Kyung Min, who lives with the trauma of school violence that he experienced 20 years ago. Kim Sung-kyu He will take on the role of detective Jung Jong Suk, who tracks down the mysterious message sent by the friend from 20 years ago. Chae Jung Ahn She will play the charismatic detective Kang Jin Ah, a tenacious woman of principle who will stop at nothing to solve a case. The newly released episode 1 video, which begins with Jeong Jong Seok and Kang Jin Ah investigating the messages left at the crime scene, builds tension with Hwang Kyung Min’s precarious expression wandering in the rain. Kang Jin Ah, who was skeptical about the message at the scene of the incident, discovers the connection between the two, and as it is revealed that Hwang Kyung Min and Jeong Jong Seok dropped out and transferred to another school in the same year, questions around them grow. Hwang Kyung Min taking aim at the next target also heightens the sense of crisis. There is a mysterious man who seems to be related to her trauma from her past and he is the one who encourages Hwang Kyung Min by saying, “There were so many fun memories of her back then.” Soon, Jong Jeong Seok and Kang Jin Ah run away after receiving a call from someone. “The King of Pigs» will premiere on Friday, March 18 through TVING, directed by the PD Kim Daejin («King Hotel“, 2014; «Kill Me Heal Me«, 2015; «Less than Evil«, 2018) and the PD script Yeon Sangho.
