The new town of the damned: Trailer of ‘The Midwich Cuckoos’

Sky TV presents the official trailer of ‘The Midwich Cuckoos’television adaptation of the 1957 novel by John Wyndham that was published in Spain under the title of ‘The Midwich Cuckoos’although it is better known by the name given to its two big-screen adaptations (directed by Wolf Rilla and John Carpenter): ‘The town of the damned’. Keeley Hawes and Max Beesley lead the cast in this “modern re-imagining” of the original story that takes place in the present day. The story begins when, inexplicably, all the inhabitants of a quiet seaside town called Midwich lose consciousness for a few hours. A short time later, another disturbing and strange phenomenon occurs that seems to be related to that fainting: Most of the women in Midwich have become pregnant… Aisling Loftus, Ukweli Roach, Synnve Karlsen, Lara Rossi, Lewis Reeves, Rebekah Staton and Anneika Rose are also seen in this production by Route 24 (from ITV Studios) and Snowed-In Productions in association with Sky Studios, which has been developed by David Farr (‘The Night Manager’, ‘Hanna’). In turn, Farr also signs the script for his eight episodes alongside Sasha Hails, Namsi Khan and Laura Lomas, with Alice Troughton (‘Baghdad Central’, ‘The Discovery of the Witches’) and Jennifer Perrott (‘Gentleman Jack’, ‘ Doctor Who’) as directors.

‘The Midwich Cuckoos’ will premiere in the UK and Ireland next summer on Sky One and NOW. For its part, NBCUniversal Global Distribution is in charge of managing international sales on behalf of Sky Studios, although at the moment we do not know who will arrive in Spain.
