tvN’s “Shooting Stars”, First Impressions

It premiered this Friday on tVN “Sh**ting Stars“, starring Lee Sung-kyung Y Kim Young Dae, accompanied by a great cast and we also start with special appearances by recognized stars of the entertainment industry. However, the ratings were inexplicably quite low at 1.632% and 1.8%. I must say that I do not agree with them at all. I really liked the couple on screen, Lee Sung-kyung is magnificent and good to Kim Young Dae, I haven’t seen him much because at least his most recent drama is not a genre I like, but every new lead actor, Koreans call him cold, emotionless, a pretty face and more. Criticisms are the sense of the disparate acting skills of Kim Young Dae (debut in a supporting role in 2018) compared to Lee Sung-kyung (debut in a supporting role in 2014). In addition, it is known that the dramas that get into the background of the lives of the stars for a long time are an almost guaranteed failure, it must be remembered «Idol the Coupe» and «imitation» which fell to less than 1%, so the public in Korea is wondering why tVN produced this drama?? And I just want to believe that maybe there is more to it than the story of an idol who falls in love and can’t make their relationship come true publicly. «Sh**ting Stars» is a new romantic comedy about the people who work behind the scenes in the entertainment industry cleaning up the messes created by stars. A behind-the-scenes look at the entertainment industry’s PR teams, managers, and reporters as they strive to clean up the messes created by their stars. Oh Han Byul heads the public relations team of an entertainment agency. One of her main clients is star Gong Tae Sung, who can’t be wrong. They were together in high school and college, there are rumors about them having a relationship beyond friendship and later, when she was a rookie in the agency that represents Gong Tae Sung, due to a typo, he became his sworn enemy. They argue constantly, and he is determined to make her life difficult, but only he can do that, as if we were watching a little kindergartener pulling the braids of the girl he likes. As for the narrative rhythm I find it entertaining, I did not see any drama or melodrama in these two episodes, the truth is that I do not want to see another story of suffering and romance for now. So I’m hoping that the love-hate relationship between Oh Han Byul and Gong Tae Sung will give us great moments of romance and fun. But if I’m worried that the story might fall into the mold of impossible idol romance dramas with a female lead waiting for love, thank goodness Oh Han Byul is a super hardworking girl, takes charge of her life, tries to go to blind dates (although she has practically no time to devote to herself) and is really good at what she does. Gong Tae Sung is a gorgeous idol with an image of kindness, commitment, hard work, humility and a long etcetera that of course the idols who are in the limelight now, in real life, share. It is the task of each one to realize how much of this is true and how much is image and nothing more. As for the colleagues from the representation agency, we have already seen their characters, hard-working, talented, who start from the bottom, but also have time to gossip about others. Just a distraction in the midst of busy agendas to keep the public image of their stars bright, something really difficult, come on, they know the true face of the stars, the one that no one in public has seen and what a stomachache!! Finding out the truth would not be able to go back there!! Lee Jung-shin (CNBLUE), deserves a separate mention, he looks gorgeous!! He is the lawyer Do Soo Hyuk from a good family, self-confident and only meets his work schedule, from the posters, I can understand that he will be related to Jo Ki Peum, a reporter friend of Oh Han Byul, since they both have jobs thanks to the stars of the agency, but they do not belong to the company. But hey, I was entertained, I had fun, and the couple’s romantic chemistry excites me, so I’m looking forward to next week. My weekend is really packed, speaking of busy schedules 😀 😀”shooting stars» has in the direction of the PD Lee Soo-hyun from “Find Me in Your Memory», 2020; «The Witch’s Diner» 2021.
