SBS’s “Again my Life” final review

«Again my Life» from SBS reached the end of its 16 episodes, surprisingly the drama reached very good ratings, I think this was due to its narrative rhythm, where the hero played by Lee Joongi he was always able to move forward by cornering his antagonist and had the help of several honest people who always believed in him, but even so the ending, although it sounds like a metaphor to me (evil will always have representatives), I feel that he lacked and had something left over . His numbers were 5.8% in episode 1 and from there it went up to 12% in chapter 15 and dropped to 10.5% in chapter 16 and final. The drama is 5% fantasy, 80% political-legal and 15% action thriller. What was missing? A clearer and more definitive victory because we never saw what happened to the antagonist. And that he had left over? For me, the romance, although we hardly see it, I never asked for it, nor did I expect it and in truth it was not necessary, besides, for me the actress Kim Ji Eunis very lukewarm, she doesn’t provoke me at all with her interpretations and even less so because at least I remember seeing her next to Nam Goong Min and now here, that is, they are stories where men have strong characters, of action, who go and resolve and she… I don’t think I’ve even seen her run!! “Again My Life” follows prosecutor Kim Hee Woo who got off to an inauspicious start as a low-grade high school student to advance through college and eventually pass the bar exam. His hard work pays off and he has become a prosecutor. During the course of his investigation, he must investigate a politician suspected of corruption. But his investigation ends abruptly when a mysterious man kills him. However, he later comes to and discovers that he is actually still alive. Restored to the mortal realm, he discovers that he must return to college and complete his academic journey again, while trying to discover the truth about what happened to him. On his journey, he meets Kim Hee Ah, an exceptionally intelligent young woman and the youngest daughter of the family that owns the wealthy Cheonha business group. As Kim Hee Woo and Kim Hee Ah intensify their search for answers, they discover that a shady cabal of wealthy power brokers may have played a role in her “death.” Thanks to the changes that happen with Kim Hee Woo’s new behavior, the lives of many people and his own change, but the best thing is that our young prosecutor has not forgotten his previous life. It is adapted from the novel series of the same name, written by Lee Hae Nalwhich also became a webtoon.

This Post Contains SPOILERS!!

Due to the fantasy element that the plot includes, with prosecutor Kim Hee Woo, remembering all those who served his enemy, Assemblyman Cho Tae Seob, he is aware of the true intentions of many of the people he comes across, as well that this allows him to confront and disarm them without them being able to hide their misdeeds any longer. This characteristic is what helps Kim Hee Woo save his parents and his friends who become strong figures who give him support when he needs it in the crusade he undertakes. So you have a journalist specializing in politics, an honest prosecutor who was sent to an office far from Seoul for not following his bosses, a computer genius, a boy who knows how to fight, and the daughter of a conglomerate who is controlled by Cho Tae Seob to obtain funds to finance his career to gain more and more power. The drama does not revolve around a “just one man”, but the spirit of it is “together we can”, which makes it different from other similar productions. So to all those people that Kim Hee Woo surrounds himself with, he is given a fair share of emphasis in the story with perfect on-screen participation. It’s not the first time Lee Joongi opts for a legal thriller, but what makes this particular drama stand out is the better acting, the revenge plot, the execution, and not forgetting its action scenes where Lee Joongi he shines and even smiles!!. Starting the drama I thought I was facing another revenge drama that aimed to bring down a corrupt politician, however, the following episodes turned out to be good, since the writer endowed the protagonist with fantastic skills. Kim Hee Woo’s accumulation of power and will was an incentive to continue the drama. In particular, every time the viewers feel that Kim Hee Woo would go for his main target, he surprises by trying to weaken another of the villain’s “supporters”, thus getting one step closer to preying on him. It got even more compelling in the last 6 episodes as we knew what was coming soon. The last 2 episodes were the actual game and the ending sequences were great. But I must admit that the ending is confusing hinting at the possibility of another season, but I guess we can take the consequences and let it go.

“A country can survive war, disease and poverty, but it cannot survive injustice.”

And this is the dance video that Lee Joon Gi promised if the drama exceeds the 10% rating, where is the 41 years old??!! «Again my Life» has 16 episodes of genres, mystery, legal, drama and fantasy. The script is a collaboration between the PD and screenwriter Lee Byung Hun (“Be Melodramatic”), kim yol and, someone who calls himself «J«. The direction was in charge of the PD’s Han Cheol SooGracefulFamily«, 2019 and Kim Yong-minfor whom this is his first project.
