At Microsoft they are aware that teachers are the leaders of educational change. For this reason, each year they recognize the work of the most innovative in using technology to improve the teaching-learning process and, in turn, help the multinational to lead innovation in education. They are the Microsoft Innovative Educators Experts, who receive unique professional development opportunities such as becoming expert speakers and participating in Microsoft webinars, hosting events to showcase their use of technology in the classroom, and even being eligible to attend Microsoft Global Educator Exchange Event.

How to be a MIE Expert
This year, the company proposes two self-nomination processes: one for the new MIE Experts and another to renew those who were already MIE Experts last year.
Procedure for new MIE Expert
The process is very simple and consists of three steps: Register in MS Learn and complete the profile. Pass the two hours of courses on the MS Learn platform or have attended at least two hours of training given by an MIE Trainer. Prepare for the nomination by collecting teaching and learning evidence and thinking about questions such as: “What Microsoft tools do you use and how do you cater to the different needs of your student body to increase accessibility in the classroom?” To prepare, candidates can also learn about the questions for the MIE Expert 2022-2023 nomination by clicking on this link. This year’s application can be made here from May 15 to July 7 and is divided into three phases: Phase 1: fill in personal and contact information. Phase 2: answer questions about the use of Microsoft Education tools that are scored automatically. The participant must reach a certain level in order to enter the review phase. Phase 3 – Resolve issues extensively that will be reviewed by the local Microsoft team only if Phase 1 has been successfully passed.
MIE Expert renewal procedure
If an MIE Expert wishes to renew their candidacy, they must go to the nominations page, update their personal information and click on ‘renew’. You will then need to answer the questions found here and submit them by July 7th. The local team will review the renewal and either accept it back into the program or reject it.
