Silverman’s role will be that of Bernstein’s sister, Shirley Anne. We are talking about the first conductor born in the United States to achieve worldwide fame, famous for having conducted the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, for his Youth Concerts on television between 1958 and 1972 or for his many compositions for the cinema, including those of ‘One day in New York’ (1944), ‘Candide’ (1956) or especially ‘West Side Story’ (1957). He was also an activist in the civil rights movement, and was outspoken on issues such as the end of the Vietnam War.
