It’s not really certain… but almost, almost: Julia Garner (‘The Assistant’) is chosen to play Madonna in a biographical film that will have the direct involvement of Madonna herself as producer, screenwriter and director. After months and months of searching, tests and other vicissitudes of the most demanding casting processes, Garner has established herself as the favorite for a role that, according to Variety, has already been formally offered to her. That is, the ball is in the court of the actress, who seems very unlikely that she would turn down such a greedy and sought-after role. In this way Garner would have prevailed over actresses like Florence Pugh, Alexa Demie and Odessa Young or singers like Bebe Rexha and Sky Ferreira. Universal Pictures will be in charge of distributing this film worldwide, which will focus on the early stages of the singer’s career, back in the 1980s. The studio won the project after winning a bidding war in which As usual, the main North American studios and streaming services participated. More details about the project are unknown for now, and it is to be hoped that once its protagonist is confirmed, the dates of its filming can be specified, either by the end of this 2022 or by 2023.
