Posted on July 5, 2022 It was finally a quiet day in the European markets to start the quarter, with a gradual rise during the session to end with a slight drop of 0.19% in the Euro Stoxx 50 to levels of 3,448 points , with an annual fall of 19.8%. At the stock level, the rise of Iberdrola, Prosus, Airbus and Anheuser Busch stood out positively. Conversely, on the negative side, tech stocks ASML and Infineon, along with Deutsche Boerse, Philips and Schneider, underperformed. At the sector level, the increase in the electricity sector stood out, compared to a greater correction in basic resources, technology and oil. The Ibex 35 closed 0.96% higher at 8,176 index points and ended the week falling 1%. The biggest drop was noted by Repsol, which corrected 4%, along with Indra, Meliá and Laboratorios Rovi. On the contrary, the best performance was scored by the electricity companies Iberdrola, Endesa and Red Eléctrica, along with Grifols and Cellnex. The US stock market also maintained a positive tone in the session, and ended up rising 1.06% in the day in the S&P500 to 3,825 points (weekly fall of 2% with an annual drop of 19.7%), and 1 0.05% on the Dow Jones and 0.90% on the Nasdaq, respectively.
