European stock markets start the week in positive

Published on July 19, 2022 In the Equity market, the week started off on the right foot, with a new rise in the European stock markets on Monday and the next ECB meeting on Thursday awaited. The Euro Stoxx 50 continues to rebound from yearly lows and closed up 1.00%, up 3,511 points, down slightly more than 18% year over year. Likewise, the Ibex 35 rose yesterday, although to a much lesser extent, by 0.22%, to 7,963 points, with a fall of 8.6% in 2022. At the sector level, in Europe the strong rise in the sectors of energy, raw materials, travel and banking. On the other hand, sectors with a defensive tone such as electricity, food, telecommunications and health had a worse performance. Regarding values, in the Ibex 35 the rise of Acerinox, Acciona Renovables, IAG, Arcelor or Ferrovial stood out. On the loss side, the biggest drop was recorded by Cellnex, together with Telefónica, Fluidra, Iberdrola or Mapfre. In the Euro Stoxx 50, the worst behavior was for Essilor, with a worse relative also for Sanofi, Bayer or Deutsche Telekom, while Basf, Kering, Prosus and Volkswagen enjoyed a higher rise. The US stock markets showed a favorable tone at the beginning of the session, but after the European closing they went down strongly to finish correcting in the case of the S&P 500 by 0.84%, to 3,830 points, with similar falls for the Dow Jones and Nasdaq.
