Drama “Why Her?” from SBS, Final Review

Another finished drama!! «Why Oh Soo Jae?” either “why her?”, made by Seo Hyun Jin, Hwang In Yeop, Bae In Hyuk Y Heo Joon Ho, ended its broadcasts with ratings of 7.7% and 10.7%, its highest rating during its entire career and the second time breaking the 10% rating There are 16 episodes of Mystery, romance and drama. In general I can say that it is a very good drama (in scale: enough, good, very good and excellent), and this is basically due to the pothole in which it fell in the second part of the drama, I think that the romance was necessary for the protagonist , as part of its revival and healing, but I have the feeling that the writer and director did not know how to deal with it and that affected the narrative rhythm.

This Post Contains SPOILERS!!

The good thing is that “Why Her?» has a nice ending. Oh Soo Jae suffered so much, that it feels good to see her come to an at least semi-happy ending. It also made sense that Choi Tae-Guk would never admit his defeat let alone his bad deeds so choose an easy path for him as a big coward. With this he did not qualify in any way the action in general, only that of the character in his circumstances. In my opinion this story had much more potential, but the writing destroyed its possibilities. While it’s wrong to say that this drama hasn’t been a hit, it’s sad that it could have been a bigger hit but never got a chance to fully shine. The audience was shocked by the performance of Seo Hyunjin in episode 14, although they said that the situation shown there was “too much”, #ConLosNiñosNo 😀 😀 And I think the same, that was too much, they could use another path, but hey! It’s also a pleasure to see Mr. Heo Joon Ho lecturing as a villain and I hope that Hwang In-yeop Y Bae In-hyuk have gained great lessons here from their sunbaes for their future jobs. In the second part of the drama, Oh Soo Jae faces the weight of her past decisions and the words of CEO Choi Tae Gook take weight, she must remember where she comes from and who she serves, if she doesn’t she risks losing what she has. and whether it is a lot or a little, depends on the point of view of each person. The romance with Gong Chan also goes through very bad days since our protagonist has to admit with shame that she let herself be carried away by fear and then became enthralled with power, she did not care about the fate of the boy whom she brought back to life by telling him I believe you, though that didn’t matter to her. Upon discovering this truth, I found Gong Chang’s attitude very unrealistic, and this was not about pride, for having been cast aside as someone worthless, in front of other people, in this case Oh Soo Jae’s family, who only appeared here to give her problems, but she always seemed more orphan than “Anita the orphan”. So this story chooses to give us a message about the responsibility of our actions and inactions and not because of what others may say or think about us, but because one as a human being is clear about the separation of good and evil, especially someone who has studied law, someone who has grown up in a society, surrounded by people from whom it is impossible not to learn. So if you choose A over B, know that you are also choosing what comes with each of these things and it’s not about Karma or curses, it’s just the flow of life. Lawyer Oh Soo Jae chose professional and monetary success, so she had to pay the price for her arrogance and selfishness, maybe it was very hard but we are facing a dramatic story, and if we don’t see something so serious, maybe we won’t we would understand that every action has a reaction, or in other words «No one leaves this life without paying». We could have had a secondary couple, but I don’t know if they forgot or didn’t want to overshadow this drama with a couple who seemed to have no problem as serious as those of the protagonist and her romantic interest, which at least is clearly confirmed: They end up together. Already in the final episode, Oh Soo Jae discovers all the tricks and crimes of CEO Choi Tae Gook, thanks to a couple of characters listening to the voice of his conscience, so she gets strong evidence, but hey, they also make fun of people !! We tend to have Teflon memories when it comes to the crimes of politicians and wealthy businessmen. I can’t believe that at this point in life, many people in Korea ask that the big conglomerates not be punished, convinced that they are generating jobs for people, of course the image cleaning is done by the media, thanks to juicy rewards!! So when we “forget”, we are also making a decision and we must take it into account when we start complaining about the price of housing, food, corruption, insecurity, etc.
