Posted on July 26, 2022 The last week of July began with a slightly positive tone in the financial markets, which rose moderately at the close. On the European front, investors remain very attentive to the wave of corporate earnings releases. Thus, the selective Euro Stoxx 50 ended the session 0.21% higher, to 3,604 points, with an annual fall of 16.1%. The Ibex 35 rose somewhat more happily on a semi-festive day thanks to the boost from Telefónica and the banks, with a rise of 0.42%, to 8,085 points and a fall of 7.2% in the year. The Italian Mib led the gains (+0.80%), after a difficult week due to the political crisis in the country. At the sector level, the best performers were concentrated in sectors such as banks, raw materials and energy, while, in the opposite direction, they corrected to a greater extent the real estate, travel and industrial sectors. In terms of securities, in the Spanish stock market we highlight the rise of more than 3% in the three domestic banks (Bankinter, Sabadell and Caixabank) together with Naturgy and Telefónica. Instead, Solaria, Fluidra, Grifols, Indra and Aena corrected the closure. In the Euro Stoxx 50, Philips fell, after worse-than-expected results, along with Flutter, SAP, Prosus and Volkswagen, while ING, BNP and Intesa banks also rose at the close, along with Adyen or Stellantis. US stock markets also ended in a slightly positive tone, recovering moderate mid-day corrections. The S&P 500 ended the session with a rise of 0.13%, to 3,966 points, better behavior for the Dow Jones and a slight drop in the technological Nasdaq.
