The digital competence of teachers will be standardized throughout the country

The accreditation of the digital competence of teachers, an essential element in the transformation of the educational system, will be recognized in a homologous manner and will be valid throughout the country. This has been agreed by the Education Sector Conference, chaired by the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría. To this end, it has also been established that the autonomous communities have one year to prepare their regulations for the accreditation of these powers. These will have different levels, similar to those used for the evaluation of languages: A1 and A2 for the initial stage; B1 and B2, the intermediate; and C1 and C2 for the advanced. The goal is that by 2024 the digital skills of at least 80% of 700,000 non-university professors are accredited.

A boost for the digitization of centers

To facilitate the development and accreditation of these skills, the Ministry is going to distribute 284.7 million euros to the autonomous communities this year. These funds, the distribution of which has been validated by the Sectoral Conference, will also serve to develop the digital plans of educational centres, an instrument to favor and promote the use of digital media in teaching-learning processes. Together with this item, it has also been agreed to distribute 118.2 million euros for the PROA+ Program for Educational Orientation, Advancement and Enrichment, recently approved by the Council of Ministers. This program is aimed at improving educational results and preventing school dropout in schools supported by public funds that have a significant percentage of students with educational difficulties. To support these students and their families, the Ministry is also financing the creation of Support and Guidance Units, which will carry out individualized monitoring of the students with the greatest difficulties, as well as their environment. Finally, the distribution of 58.5 million euros has been agreed to finance textbooks and teaching materials, approved this week by the Council of Ministers. During her speech, Pilar Alegría also wanted to thank the communities for their involvement in the reception and schooling of nearly 22,000 Ukrainian minors who arrived in our country and asked them to intensify activities during the summer to improve their integration and learning of Spanish and the co-official languages.
