The box office picks up

20 million (always) dollars. ‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero‘ has grossed just over $20 million in its North American release: slightly more than ‘Jujutsu Kaisen 0’ but also slightly less than ‘Night Watch: Infinity Train’. The aforementioned animated film, which will not be released in theaters in Spain until September 2, thus prevails over the other more or less important premiere of the week, that of ‘The beast‘, which has had to settle for about 11.5 million. What I said in passing, is not bad at all… although it is nothing to write home about and its production cost is an excessive 36 million (without advertising). Also this weekend it has premiered in ‘The Orphan: First Kill‘ in just 498 theaters (as well as on Paramount+), grossing $1.68 million. Its average, of more than 3,000 dollars per copy, suggests that those responsible were as wrong as those of ‘Predator: Prey’, ‘The Invisible Agent’ or ‘Thirteen Lives’ premiering on streaming… As for the rest of titles on the billboard, highlighting that with just over 683 million ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘ has already overtaken ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ as the sixth-highest-grossing film in US history. Its worldwide total also exceeds 1.4 billion dollars, surpassing ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ as the twelfth highest-grossing film in history worldwide. Finally to mention that the same weekend in which A24 turned ten years old, ‘Bodysuits Bodysuits‘ multiplied by two the number of cinemas in which it was exhibited last week… without much luck: It leaves a -26% compared to last week, adding “only” 2.4 million to a total that exceeds 7… which are already more than the slightly less than 5 million that has been collected’fail‘ in two weeks.
