Bill Skarsgard and Lily-Rose Depp to Star in Robert Eggers’ ‘Nosferatu’

More than seven years after the project was announced, Robert Eggers will finally shoot his long-awaited version of ‘nosferatu’, the free and iconic adaptation of Bram Stoker’s ‘Drcula’ directed by FW Murnau 100 years ago. Finally, the one in charge of interpreting its protagonist will be Bill Skarsgrd, fresh from the success in the United States of ‘Barbarian’ (of which he is also an executive producer) and perhaps not by chance brother of Alexander Skarsgrd, protagonist in turn of ‘El Northman’, Eggers’s last film so far, released last spring. Skarsgrd will be accompanied by Lily-Rose Depp, who will thus replace Anya Taylor-Joy, an actress who has been associated with the project since she collaborated with Eggers in 2015 in ‘The Witch’, the film that launched their careers. In fact, in 2019 the project was about to materialize at the hands of Studio 8 with Taylor-Joy and Harry Styles as protagonists, although problems with the budget and the shooting schedule prevented it. Now it will be Focus Features that, after the commercial success of the aforementioned ‘The man from the north’, support this proposal that is announced very faithful to the original film and that Eggers himself will produce together with Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus. Lastly, we should mention that this week in Prague the filming of another remake for years in development has finished, which has also ended up starring Bill Skarsgrd: The one with ‘The Raven‘ from 1994 which has finally been directed by Rupert Sanders, responsible for ‘Snow White and the Legend of the Huntsman’, ‘Ghost in the Shell: The Soul of the Machine’ or the first episode of the ‘Foundation’ of Apple TV +.
