To do this, the STEAM approach to education goes beyond studying ICT-related subjects; It means approaching them in a transversal way that helps the student to face real-world problems from a creative and unique approach.
In addition, this comprehensive report includes the following articles: STEAM tools and content to facilitate learning VIII EDUCATION 3.0 MEETING: ‘STEAM training: students prepared for the jobs of the future’
“The contact of nature benefits learning”
We interviewed Paqui Godino, a biologist specializing in the environment and environmental education. For this expert, contact with nature not only benefits the learning process, since students learn more and better, but also teachers feel greater satisfaction with their work and enjoy greater pedagogical freedom. According to Godino, most of the educational centers have lived with their backs turned to nature during the last decades: “They have lived subject to a corseted curriculum in books, without contact with the real world that exists beyond the four walls of the classroom. However, it has not always been this way; At the beginning of the 20th century, the foundations of the current openness to the environment were laid, which have been reflected in the multiplication of education initiatives in nature, such as forest-schools, schools in nature and other centers of alternative pedagogies”.
Keys to improve the mental health of students
1 in 7 adolescents worldwide has a diagnosed mental health problem, to the point that suicide has become the fifth leading cause of death in the world among this sector of the population. Depression, anxiety and stress are the most common mental health disorders among students. Greater training among teachers and promoting emotional education are two of the factors that can reduce and avoid them.
