Let's go with the trailer for 'The piano lesson' (The Piano Lesson), the new Netflix film based on August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning 1987 play of the same name. Starring Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington and Danielle Deadwyler, among others, the film will arrive on the streaming platform on November 22, 2024, although two weeks earlier, on November 8, it will be released in select theaters in the United States. The inheritance of a piano sparks a family feud and a battle between two siblings (played by John David Washington and Danielle Deadwyler): one hopes to sell it and the other refuses to give it up. The dispute uncovers disturbing truths about how the past is perceived and who defines the family legacy. The film's cast also includes Ray Fisher, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, Skylar Aleece Smith, Jerrika Hinton, Gail Bean and Corey Hawkins. Interestingly, Washington, Jackson, Fisher and Potts will reprise their roles from the 2022 Broadway revival of the play. Malcolm Washington makes his directorial debut with this project produced by Denzel Washington and Todd Black. Jennifer Roth, Constanza Romero Wilson and Katia Washington serve as executive producers.
