Freddie Highmore and Keeley Hawes star in Prime Video series 'The Assassin'

Freddie Highmore ('The Good Doctor') and Keeley Hawes ('Orphan Black: Echoes') have signed on to star in an upcoming Prime Video action-thriller series titled 'The Assassin'The series comes from brothers Harry and Jack Williams, the creators of The Tourist, the series starring Jamie Dornan and Danielle Macdonald. Stranded on a remote Greek island, retired assassin Julie (Hawes) has a somewhat awkward reunion with her estranged son, Edward (Highmore), who is visiting from England. Armed with questions about his parentage, Edward struggles to find the right time to talk to his frustratingly distant mother. Eventually, things take a deadly turn when Julie’s dangerous past catches up with her and they are forced to flee the island together. Alongside Hawes and Highmore, the series stars Gina Gershon, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jack Davenport, Alan Dale, Gerald Kyd, Devon Terrell, Richard Dormer and David Dencik. The Williamses’ production company Two Brothers will produce the series in association with ZDF, All3Media International and Stan in Australia. Filming for the six-episode series is already underway in Greece.
