Official title and logo of the new installment of 'Karate Kid'

Sony Pictures has announced the official title and a first logo of the long-awaited new installment of 'Karate Kid'. The film, which will feature the return of franchise veterans Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan, is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 30, 2025. Through a message on X, Sony confirmed that the next installment of the iconic film franchise of martial arts will be titled 'Karate Kid: Legends'in an announcement that precedes the panel that the film will have at the New York Comic Con next Friday, October 18 at the Empire Stage. Jonathan Entwistle, creator of 'The End of the F***ing World' and 'This Shit Is Overwhelming', will direct the film from a script by Rob Lieber. For her part, Karen Rosenfelt will be the producer of this film whose plot has not yet been revealed, although we know that it will take place on the east coast and will focus on a teenager from China. Rounding out the cast will be franchise newcomers Ben Wang, Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Sadie Stanley, Aramis Knight, Wyatt Oleff and Jennifer-Lyn Christie. In November 2023 it was announced that Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan will reprise their roles in this future installment. Macchio debuted as Daniel LaRusso in 'Karate Kid, the moment of truth' in 1984, a film directed by Robert Mark Kamen where the legendary Pat Morita, William Zabka and Elisabeth Shue also participated. The film had two sequels, 'Karate Kid II: The Story Continues' (1986) and 'Karate Kid III' (1989), in addition to the hit Netflix series, 'Cobra Kai'. For his part, Chan participated in the 2010 remake, 'The Karate Kid', a film directed by Harald Zwart where he shared the bill with Jaden Smith.
