The real estate assets of Alaska and Mario Vaquerizo: their striking business plans

There is no doubt that Alaska (61 years old) and Mario Vaquerizo (50 years old) make up one of the most striking couples in the country. There is no one like them. They showed it with their weddings. Yes, two. One in Las Vegas, dressed in the typical Elvis Presley suit for him and her dressed as Dolly Parton. With the second, a civilian in Madrid, they also gave a good account of their unique personalities with their outfits. He, with a skinny suit and jacket, and the singer wearing a red dress and a huge bouquet in the same shade. They have known how to make a career out of eccentricity with that kitsch and casual touch. His home was not going to be less. They have two houses in the same building in the center of Madrid: the so-called Pink House and the Blue House. Each one with its function. The first of them, measuring 140 square meters and consisting of the bedrooms, living room and kitchen, is the one where they live together daily. It goes without saying that its name comes from the predominance of this color on all the walls and practically in most of the objects they keep. It has a kitsch aesthetic and is full of decorative figures, works of pop art, dolls, drawings, paintings, references religious buildings, giant statues and even altars. Everything is so overloaded that nothing else seems to fit. Recently, they have included a very special one in their collection of figures: a large Hello Kitty. The floor also plays an important role in the decor, with animal print carpeting throughout. Very trendy this year.

The cross-shaped painting in the dining room and the chairs upholstered in purple and floral motifs stand out, where the couple spends great times with their family and friends. The bedroom is not far behind, although change pink for blue. In the center, a golden headboard upholstered in tufted fabric along with several religious paintings by Fabio Mcnamara, one of his intimates. To top it off, some white Elizabethan side tables and above them, some crystal lamps. Another area that is worth seeing is the one dedicated to San Lázaro. The two bathrooms in the house, one for him decorated with Elvis Presley figures and has a disco ball, and another for her in red and gold.

The Blue House, your peculiar leisure place

On the fourth floor of the same building is the so-called Blue House, intended for leisure and whose aesthetic is the same but in this tone. Just as loaded. It is about a kind of museum where your belongings are locatedprizes and treasured souvenirs, plus an extensive library, a large dining room for your extensive list of friends, and a lounge inspired by a Las Vegas bar. What they don't have are bedrooms to prevent friends from joining.

A corner for the great Lola Flores

One of the corners of their home has a specific area dedicated to the great Lola Flores, who occupies a very special place in their hearts. Especially in Alaska since it is one of its references. The yellow and white polka dot walls of that little piece of idola are decorated with hundreds of memories of La Faraona: photos, drawings, stamps and even a life-size cardboard figure and some other dolls. The couple also has a third space, the Green one, that Vaquerizo uses as an office. It is a duplex in the attic of the same building. Their group of residences is so mythical that, for years, the crowds passing by Madrid's Gran Vía took photos on the couple's balcony, as if it were just another tourist stop. In it, two flamingos standing out on Libreros Street.

Alaska and Mario want their own hotel

It is not surprising that with that success, Alaska and Mario Vaquerizo They want to convert this building into a hotel. Their intention is to acquire the rest of the properties to convert it into a hotel. “I believe in the brick. When I'm 80 years old, I'm not going to continue with the Blonde Nancys. I have to think about something else. It is for the peace of mind of the future. We want the building and the two stores below,” Vaquerizo said in an interview with Vicky Martín Berrocal on his podcast. “When I came to the Gran Vía cinemas and spent here on Saturday, I said I wanted to have an apartment there. I bought the first floor with Alaska and now I have six,” the artist explained in his talk with the intention of keeping the little pink house and converting the rest into a hotel. The couple already has the building's goalwho has converted it into a dressing room. “It was very small, the house of the former doormen,” commented Vaquerizo. In addition, one of the apartments belongs to Mario Vaquerizo's sister, Marta, with whom the singer is closely linked.
