The American startup Throne has developed an extraordinary technology thanks to which the toilet can examine our health. The company has already started accepting pre-orders. Toilets are becoming more and more modern and offer more and more possibilities. Such amenities as heated seat, backlight or automatic flushing functionoffered, among others, because of the new Xiaomi toilet seat, they no longer impress anyone. Today, bathroom equipment manufacturers focus on health-related functions. For example, the new Withings U-Scan toilet has built-in urine analyzer that can determine the substances present in it based on its color. The device can track the menstrual cycle and help detect kidney stones or bladder cancer.
Throne will examine our health
The latest product from the American company Throne is also heading in a similar direction, turning the toilet into a medical device. The startup developed a special module connected to the toilet bowl that takes photos of fecesand then analyzes them using physician-trained “gut artificial intelligence”. AI helps users understand what feces can say about their health. In this way, the device is able to determine, among others: intestinal health and body hydration. The camera placed in the toilet immediately aroused user privacy concerns. The company quickly published a page dedicated to this issue, which is intended to dispel any doubts. There you will find information on what exactly Throne records and how it uses these images.
“We only capture images of the contents of your toilet bowl. Any other data is irrelevant to our mission and could compromise our ability to provide accurate health information. We use image recognition technology to automatically remove any irrelevant items. This ensures that only data related to the toilet is stored.”
