The English version of 'The Squid Game' (Squid Game), which is rumored to star David Fincher ('The Killer'), appears to have gotten a major boost after Deadline reports that the series could be the filmmaker's next project. The media reports that Fincher is already working on the development of the project and that it is very likely that the series will be filmed throughout 2025, although there is some possibility that the director will film a movie before delving fully into his work in the series. In March 2023, Jeff Sneider revealed that the streamer was working on an American version of the successful series, among other reasons because the platform claims that a large part of its audience is reluctant to watch movies and series in a language other than English. The original series comes from writer and director Hwang Dong-Hyuk, known for his work on various South Korean films such as 'The Fortress', 'Miss Granny' and 'Silenced'. The story centers on a group of 456 cash-strapped gamers who accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games on a remote island in hopes of winning 456 billion won. However, they soon discover that there is much more at stake. The second season is scheduled to premiere on December 26, 2024.
