Sony presents the first trailer for '28 years later', sequel to the 2002 film '28 Days Later', which already had a first sequel with '28 Weeks Later' in 2007. Danny Boyle, director of the original film, returns to direct this new installment, whose script has been written by Alex Garland ('Civil War'), also screenwriter of the first film. Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as Jim in this film where he will be accompanied by Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O'Connell, Erin Kellyman and Edvin Ryding. At the moment it is not clear what relevance the character of Murphy will have, who in the original film played a London courier who wakes up from a coma and discovers that a rabies virus has escaped from a biological weapons laboratory and has caused the collapse of society. Almost three decades have passed since then, and still under a brutally imposed quarantine, some have found ways to exist among the infected. One of these groups of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily defended road. When one of the members of the group leaves the island to enter the dark heart of the continent, they discover secrets, wonders and horrors that have mutated not only the infected, but also other survivors. This new sequel will be the first in a trilogy of films that will be filmed consecutively, with the second installment being directed by Nia DaCosta ('Candyman'). '28 years later' will hit theaters on June 20, 2025 from Sony Pictures Releasing.
