Diego Simeone A.K.A El Cholo is an ex-midfielder turned football manager. He has had a great career as a player, tried his luck in different leagues and teams, and has won a significant number of cups. Before joining Atletico, he won two league titles in Argentina with different clubs and proved that he had the talent to someday manage in European football. But now he solely belongs to and manages Atletico Madrid.
Diego and Torres
Fernando Torres recently retired from professional football and Diego paid a heartfelt tribute to his former teammate. Diego and Torres go way back, they have played alongside each other in Atletico Madrid. Diego has also coached Torres after he returned to the club from the Premier League and Serie A. In the recent tribute Diego said and I quote “Fernando is very intelligent, an absolute legend of football. He’s earned his place in the sport through hard work, commitment and respect for others, He’s always had a great personality, as a person and player.”
Diego’s Biggest Managerial Success
Diego has led Atletico Madrid to its glory. Atletico Madrid won the European Supercup against Real Madrid in 2018. That moment was huge for the team but personally, for Diego, that was a milestone. Diego is now the manager with the most trophies in the club’s history. Diego hasn’t stopped there though, he wants Atletico to be one in the big leagues and do right by his fans. Diego Simeone wants to build a legacy in the history of Spanish football and he won’t stop trying till the very end.
