Even before the announcement about the fourth phase of MCU, Kevin Feige revealed that a Black Panther sequel was 100% happening. It was not a surprise as the movie broke records and landed nominations in all the major award ceremonies, including the Golden Globes and Oscar.
So, what do we know about the second edition of the movie?
When can we expect it?
It was confirmed that the sequel would be out on May 6, 2022, and the May 2022 release date suggests Black Panther 2 would be one of the first movies of Phase 5 or one of the final in Phase 4.
What is it about?
Even though it’s too early for the plot details of the Black Panther sequel, so we might have to wait for some time. Nevertheless, fans have continued to speculate.
In the first part, Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa was crowned as ruler and protector of Wakanda in the end after fierce rivalry against Michael B Jordan’s Erik Killmonger and Winston Duke’s M’Baku.
For the next part, the script again might suggest that the Wakanda is under attack yet back, with Namor or Princess Zanda being the villain and wanting to rule over the territory.
Who would be the villain? Will Killmonger return?
Michael B. Jordan won the Best Villain award at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.
It doesn’t seem like he could return, but in the MC Universe, you never know. Kevin Feige said that it’s too early to say anything, and “nothing is set yet in any way that far.”
Well, it’s not a definite no.
But again, Jordan needed therapy after playing Killmonger. Therefore he might be unwilling to return.
Cast: Who’s coming back?
The returning members include Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kabi and Angela Bassett as Ramonda, T’Challa’s mother.
