Universal Pictures has announced that this week the filming of ‘Oppenheimer‘, the as always expected new film written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Cillian Murphy will lead the cast of this “peak thriller that plunges audiences into the heart-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.” Murphy will play Julius Robert Oppenheimer, an American theoretical physicist considered one of the “fathers of the atomic bomb” due to his outstanding participation in the Manhattan Project, the initiative that managed to develop the first nuclear weapons in history during World War II. World. Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Alden Ehrenreich, Matthew Modine, David Krumholtz, Kenneth Branagh and Michael Angarano complete the main cast of this film. Produced by Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Nolan himself, it will be based on ‘American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer’, a biography written by Kai Bird and the recently deceased Martin J. Sherwin. ‘Oppenheimer‘ is an Atlas Entertainment and Syncopy Films production to be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures to replace Warner Bros., distributor of all of Nolan’s films since ‘Insomnia’ in 2002. With a budget of at least $100 million dollars, the film will be shot on a combination of IMAX film and 65mm film with a view to its “theatrical only” release on July 21, 2023.
