Alexandra Daddario to Star in TV Adaptation of ‘The Mayfair Witches’

Alexandra Daddario lead the cast of ‘Mayfair Witches’which, as its name indicates, will be the television adaptation of ‘The Mayfair Witches’ by Anne Rice. According to Variety (and later confirmed by AMC) the actress will play the role of Dr. Rowan Mayfair. The first season of the future series will consist of a total of eight episodes which, in the absence of official confirmation, we assume will include the events of “The Witching Hour”, the first installment of the saga. This first volume according to its official description covers four centuries of history of the prominent and wealthy Mayfair family, a dynasty of New Orleans witches persecuted by a powerful, dangerous and seductive being throughout the centuries. “La voz del Diablo” and “Taltos” complete this literary trilogy that is set in the same universe as “Vampire Chronicles”. In fact, both series are merged from the book “Merrick” and come together completely for the end of “Vampire Chronicles”, in the book “Cántico de sangre”. Let us remember that it is not by chance that AMC is also working on the corresponding television adaptation of ‘Interview with the Vampire’, the first of said “Vampire Chronicles”. Sam Reid (as Lestat de Lioncourt) and Jacob Anderson (as Louis de Point du Lac) lead the cast of this other series, also with eight episodes per season, which has been developed by Rolin Jones (‘Perry Mason’), the person in charge of instead of overseeing what the company hopes will become a “The Walking Dead”-like franchise. This Spalding and Michelle Ashford (‘Masters of Sex’) will be the main creative responsible for ‘Mayfair Witches’, with Spalding also serving as showrunner. The company’s intention -if it is successful- is to alternate the broadcast of the different seasons of both series, being that the premiere of ‘Interview with the Vampire’ it is announced for the end of this year (in Spain, through AMC itself). The ambitious project arises after the agreement reached in May 2020 by which AMC Studios acquired the main literary works written by the American novelist, who will act as executive producer of the entire project together with her son, also novelist Christopher Rice.
