Heroes and Scoundrels: Trailer for ‘SAS: Rogue Heroes’

The BBC presents the official trailer for SAS: Rogue Heroes, a television series created and written by the prolific Steven Knight (‘Peaky Blinders’, ‘Taboo’, ‘See’) that will premiere at the end of this month of October, in Spain by HBO Max . The series, made up of a total of six one-hour episodes each, is inspired by the non-fiction book written by Ben Macintyre that we know in Spain under the title of ‘The Men of the SAS: Heroes and Scoundrels in the British Special Operations Corps’. Both the aforementioned book and the series tell the same story: The creation of the British SAS (Special Air Service) in July 1941, being the first special operations body of its kind. They began in the desert of North Africa and then continued to fight in Italy, France and Nazi Germany until the end of the war. While there were traditional-style military men, most of their recruits, of all nationalities and stripes, were misfits, rogues willing to heroically risk their lives, but also capable of brutal actions and big mistakes. Connor Swindells (‘Vigil: Nuclear Conspiracy’) leads his cast playing David Stirling, a British Army officer who founded the aforementioned SAS. For his part, Jack O’Connell (‘Icy Blood’) plays Paddy Mayne and Alfie Allen (‘White House Farm’) plays Jock Lewes, its co-founders, while Sofia Boutella (‘Climax’) plays a young woman named Eve and Dominic West (“The Affair”) to Brigadier Wrangel Clarke. Amir El Masry, Theo Barklem-Biggs, Corin Silva, Jacob Ifan, Dnal Finn, Jacob McCarthy, Michael Schaeffer and Miles Jupp complete the main cast of this Kudos (Banijay Company) production for BBC One, directed entirely by Tom Shankland, also director of all the episodes of the latest television adaptations of ‘The city and the city’ and ‘Les miserables’.

SAS: Rogue Heroes is written and created by Steven Knight, also an executive producer alongside Karen Wilson, Martin Haines, Emma Kingsman-Lloyd and Tommy Bulfin, with Stephen Smallwood (“Patrick Melrose”) serving as producer.
