Yann Demange to direct Marvel Studios’ new ‘Blade’

Yann Demange will finally be in charge of directing the new film of ‘Blade‘, as announced by Marvel Studios. The director of ’71’, ‘White Boy Rick’, the miniseries ‘Dead Set: Death Live’ or the first episode of ‘Lovecraft Territory’ will thus replace the initially planned Bassam Tariq, whom we remember after spending more than a year For a year working on its development, I ended up abandoning the project a couple of months ago. Demange’s hiring as a new director is accompanied by the hiring of Michael Starrbury (‘Legends of Chamberlain Heights’) as a new screenwriter, who will completely revise from top to bottom the script previously written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour (‘Hunters’, ‘Watchmen’). Double Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will replace Wesley Snipes in the skin of his protagonist, a half-mortal man and half-vampire who is capable of walking under sunlight, in this production that will reinterpret the character and introduce him to the MCU. Without, for the moment, we still don’t know if the project will opt for the R rating or not, which ‘Deadpool 3’ will opt for. Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre complete the cast for now for this film whose pre-production will start up again in early 2023 with a view to filming in the middle of the year. After the delay caused by the change of director and the need to completely review its script, the film will hit theaters in at least the United States on September 6, 2024, almost a year after the initial November 3, 2023.
