Technology known from smartphones may soon find its way to laptops

HP is developing an unusual laptop that, like some smartphones, will have a foldable display. The company's patent shows what the new device may look like. Laptops are great devices for working at home and outside, but they have a drawback – a relatively small screen. Manufacturers are trying to solve this problem by using additional displays connected to the main screen, but this is not a convenient solution. HP has a more interesting idea: it is working on a portable computer with a flexible screen that can be folded and unfolded like those of smartphones.

Laptop with a foldable screen

The American Patent and Trademark Office has published patent documents belonging to the HP concern. They present concept of an innovative laptop equipped with a flexible display.

Source: USPTO The patent describes a device equipped with a display with two hinges installed, enabling its external folding. Both parts of the panels fold over the housing, making the device very compact when folded and easier to transport. However, when the screen is unfolded, it allows you to obtain a display with a much larger surface, which increases the comfort of work. Naturally, we must be aware that this is only a patent. So there is absolutely no certainty that HP will implement this idea and introduce a laptop with this design to the market. Although the above solution would certainly increase the comfort of working with such equipment, such a product would certainly not be cheap. In addition, there would be concerns about the durability of the display, and the costs of replacing it in the event of damage would certainly be astronomical. I will add that this is not the first unusual idea for a laptop. Two years ago, Samsung presented an equally interesting project, whose equipment is assembled in the opposite way than classic portable computers. If you are looking for a new laptop, you will find a wide selection at affordable prices on this website. #advertisement.
