Picture this. You’re camping with your family in a trailer in the middle of a Costa Rican island closed to public and you hear a low guttural roar. Everything goes quiet. The ground shakes and from the bushes a pair of reptilian eyes seem to sneer at your helplessness. You might just be in a Jurassic Park movie. The latest installment in the series that refuses to die and spares no expense is coming on 10 June, 2021.
Who Will Train The Velociraptors This Time?
Peter Quill returns as Owen Grady. Wait, no. Chris Pratt. But, the real talking point is the return of Sam Neill (Alan Grant) and Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler). The return of the two doctors promises some geeky twists to contrast the raw, often thoughtless action of the Jurassic World movies. Jeff Goldblum is also slated to return as the maddening rockstar scientist Ian Malcolm. Bryce Dallas Howard is rocking her new not-so-corporate Claire look with a throwback to Ellie Sattler’s look in the first film. Check it out here.
Is There Anything Left To Do For The Dinosaurs?
The movies have arguably exhausted the theme-park-gone-wrong genre. The previous one ended with dinosaurs being released into the wild so we expect the new one to focus on the character development – for lack of a better word – of these dinodudes. The story is likely to chronicle the dinosaurs contact with humans and the subsequent carnage that ensues. Here’s a short film to give you a glimpse of what’s coming.
From what I see, it seems like the dinosaurs were just given access to a Vegas style all-you-can-eat buffet.
Who’s The Cute Dino Baby?
The short film will you make you go from “Awwwww…” to “Aaahhhhhh” in about 10 seconds as it cuts from an adorable triceratops baby to a thunderous T-rex. Expect the movie to model more on such encounters. The movie will probably feature the velociraptors, various pterodactyls and of course, the all-consuming Mesosaurus. The genetically modified super-dino theme may just be too cliché at this point and could (and should) be given a miss.
Rest assured, this promises to be another CGI-fuelled gore-filled fiesta with the odd geeky comment from Dr. Grant. Can’t Wait!
